About the Item

Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a Fajalauza ceramic jug by the historic Morales workshop, paired with a hand-woven cotton lampshade in cobalt, green, and white. This one-of-a-kind Fajalauza ceramic table lamp celebrates five centuries of Granada artistry. The tin-glazed earthenware base glows milky white, hand-painted in the signature azul y verde palette with flowing vegetal scrolls, stylized birds, and the pomegranate—Granada’s emblem. Crafted from local clay and decorated with mineral pigments of copper and cobalt oxide, the lamp’s surface retains the slight brushstroke cadence collectors prize—evidence of the maker’s hand. Its graceful, globular jarrón form with a narrow neck and single handle nods to Andalusia’s traditional alcarrazas, while the discreet green workshop mark on the underside authenticates its Morales lineage. Amitābha Studio designed and wove the custom shade to mirror the base’s tones, wrapping cotton threads in alternating bands of cobalt, soft green, and white. The result is a hand-woven lampshade that diffuses light with gentle warmth, balancing the crisp contours of the ceramic with painterly softness. This Fajalauza ceramic table lamp is a singular piece—an elegant fusion of Andalusian tradition and Amitābha Studio’s contemporary craft—completed with a hand-woven lampshade for a cohesive, artful presence. About Fajalauza and The Morales Workshop (Granada, Spain) Fajalauza is Granada’s storied tin-glazed earthenware, produced since 1517 and recognized by its blue-and-green brushwork on luminous white glaze. The Morales family stands at the heart of this tradition, preserving its motifs—pomegranates, birds, and scrolling foliage—and techniques across generations. The workshop’s excellence earned international recognition at the 1910 Brussels Universal Exhibition, cementing Fajalauza as a symbol of Granada’s cultural identity. Today, the Fundación Cerámica Fajalauza continues this living heritage, ensuring the craft’s materials, methods, and visual language endure for future collectors and connoisseurs. ⸻ Please note: The lamp is fully wired for use in the U.S. Additionally, the listed height includes the lampshade. We also ensure compatibility for global use by offering a free plug customization service to match the electrical standards of your specific country. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us! ⸻ About Amitābha Studio: Amitābha Studio is a design atelier dedicated to transforming historic ceramics into one-of-a-kind lighting objects. Each lamp is crafted with deep reverence for the original form, using non-invasive methods that preserve the integrity of every antique or vintage vase. We pair these bases with bespoke lampshades—often made from luxurious textiles such as vintage sari silks or fine European fabrics—and finish each piece with carefully selected cords, fittings, and handmade brass elements. Our work is guided by a commitment to sustainability, cultural heritage, and timeless design.

Spanish Mid-Century Teruel Green Ceramic Table Lamp — Mudéjar Revival
By Domingo Punter e Hijos
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Lovingly hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Punter Teruel vase in a baluster form, this lamp exemplifies the richness of Spanish Revival design paired with mid-century artistry. The rounded body rises gracefully to a tall neck, its surface coated in a creamy tin glaze and painted freehand in the distinctive loza verdimorada palette of green and manganese black. This striking chromatic language, unique to Teruel ceramics, traces directly back to the medieval Mudéjar traditions of Aragón, where similar motifs once adorned both domestic tablewares and the city’s iconic glazed towers. The decoration is arranged in framed compartments across the body: a heraldic lion, a stylized bird, and geometric devices executed in bold black linework. Along the lower register runs a rhythmic frieze of pinecone medallions, a traditional symbol of abundance and vitality. The motifs, painted with expressive brushwork, exemplify the revival style pioneered by Domingo Punter and his contemporaries, who reinterpreted medieval patterns with modern fluidity. At the foot, the reddish terracotta clay is revealed, inscribed with the bold mark “PUNTER,” confirming the piece’s authenticity. To balance the ceramic base, Amitābha Studio has paired the lamp with a custom lampshade in a green, black, and white tweed weave. The textured fabric recalls couture textiles, while the double-cord passementerie trim by Houlès adds refinement. When lit, the lamp casts a warm, inviting glow that emphasizes its sculptural silhouette and intricate surface design. This Spanish Revival lamp...

Blue Neoclassical Ceramic Table Lamp, William Morris Acanthus Pleated Shade
By Morris Co., Flora Gouda
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
This vintage ceramic table lamp was handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam from a rare amphora-shaped vase by Flora Gouda, part of the Porcelina series produced between 1950 and 1970. We’ve paired the base with a bespoke hand-pleated lampshade in a reinterpreted William Morris Acanthus print, and finished it with a soft blue silk cord. The lamp was created without harming the original vase in any way. The amphora form, with its fluted pedestal and graceful curves, reflects a neoclassical influence filtered through the clean, modernist lines of mid-century Dutch design. Finished in a pale, slate-toned matte glaze, the vase belongs to Flora’s Porcelina series—developed to meet shifting postwar tastes toward muted, architectural ceramics. Its powdery surface diffuses light gently, lending the lamp a quiet, sculptural quality. The lampshade’s pleated craftsmanship echoes the vase’s ribbed detailing, while the indigo and ivory palette of the William Morris textile subtly mirrors the vase’s color story. Together, the lamp and shade create a thoughtful dialogue between classical reference and 20th-century restraint. This Flora Gouda lamp...

Spanish Revival Mid-Century Benlloch Manises Ceramic Table Lamp
By Manuel Benlloch
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Manuel Benlloch Manises vase, this table lamp captures the spirit of Spanish Revival design. The tall, hexagonal base is finished in an ivory crackle glaze, a hallmark of Benlloch wares, and painted freehand in a bold palette of cobalt blue, rust-orange, and cream. Its rich patterning draws on Spain’s historic Hispano-Moresque and Mudéjar traditions, translated here into a vibrant mid-century ceramic form. Each of the six faces is framed by cobalt ribs and filled with repeating ogee arches, lattice lozenges, and scrolling arabesques. The rhythmic interplay of color and geometry creates a bold yet refined surface, perfectly balancing ornament and structure. The underside bears the hand-painted signature “Benlloch España,” affirming its authenticity as a product of this renowned Manises workshop, active across three generations in the 20th century. To echo the vase’s architectural silhouette, Amitābha Studio has paired the base with a new bespoke hexagonal lampshade. Crafted in warm Dupion silk in tones of orange, peach, and gold, the fabric’s natural texture harmonizes with the arabesques on the ceramic. A Houlès passementerie trim completes the design, while the shade’s golden glow enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence when illuminated. This Spanish Revival lamp...
