Amitābha Studio
Amitābha Studio is a husband-and-wife creative design studio founded in Amsterdam in 2021 by Davide Piai and Kimberly Poppe. The name "Amitābha" means "limitless light" in Sanskrit.
Davide Piai is an Italian craftsman with talents encompassing art, music, and culinary arts. Kimberly Poppe is an American artist, fine art photographer, curator, and interior designer, educated at Parsons School of Design and Sotheby's Institute of Art.
Together, they create functional art objects—notably luxury lighting and lamps—by meticulously sourcing and transforming antique and vintage ceramics into handcrafted designer pieces. Each of their lamps is one-of-a-kind.
In 2025, Amitābha Studio relocated to Sitges, on the Mediterranean coast south of Barcelona, Spain. While Dutch pottery remains at the heart of their collection, the move has allowed them to incorporate the rich ceramic heritage of Spain into their work.
The studio has collaborated with prestigious institutions, including Aronson Antiquairs for 17th-century Delftware and Royal Delft.
Cerámica de Fajalauza
This factory, dating back to 1517, has been passed down from father to son since then to the present day. It has been located in the Granada neighborhood of Fajalauza since Nasrid times, next to the entryway of the same name or the Collado de los Almendros entryway.
This factory was awarded a silver medal at the Universal Exhibition of Brussels in 1910 and, among many other decorations, obtained first prize at the first national ornamental plate exhibit, held in Cáceres.
Our products are made according to the traditional Arab technique – of which we are its most faithful followers. Proof of this can be seen, among other places, at the tile panels at the Arrayanes Palace of the Alhambra palace. In addition to this, the tile plinth of the main patio of the Granada City Council and the construction of the entire tilework of the chalet of the Kings of Belgium in Motril have been recently completed.
