Fine French Celadon Table Lamp with Gilt Bronze Mounts — Stamped Paris
A fine 19th-century French celadon oil lamp, now sensitively converted for electrical use, mounted in richly detailed gilt bronze and stamped Paris. The celadon porcelain body is of elegant baluster form, displaying a beautifully even glaze of soft, cool tone with the subtle translucency associated with high-quality 19th-century French ceramics.
Originally produced as an oil lamp, it retains its decorative gilt bronze side handles with their scrolling foliate design, together with a finely cast collar and an ornate base raised on shaped bracket feet. The mounts show excellent definition and an attractive, mellow patination that complements the refined celadon body.
Now converted for modern use, the piece offers both historic charm and practical illumination. A distinguished addition to any drawing room, library or study, where its sculptural presence and gentle colour can be fully appreciated.
