About the Item

A high quality and most decorative French 19th century Charles X Period Crystal and Ormolu lamp. This stunning Amethyst colored Crystal urn mounted into a lamp is raised by a square Ormolu base topped with a mottled trim with richly chased designs of acanthus leaves. Above the is intricately cut square Crystal base displaying diamond shaped facets throughout below a circular beaded and fluted Ormolu socle. The baluster shaped Crystal urn showcases lattice and diamond shaped cuts, while richly decorated by side Ormolu handles. The handles display a central bust of Bacchus while surrounded by a lower circular leaf pattern while he is wearing a crown of vines and grape clusters. Above are the scrolled handles with a floral rosette and acanthus leaves, which are joined to the mottled and fluted top cap.
