About the Item
Elegant Neoclassical Revival French table lamp by Le Dauphin, circa late 1970s–1990s, featuring a faux bois glazed ceramic urn, gold-tone fittings, and new pleated silk lampshade. Newly rewired with US plug or plug for your country of use.
A classic French table lamp by Le Dauphin reflecting the refined decorative aesthetic for which this Saint-Marcellin manufacturer became internationally recognized. The lamp features a beautifully proportioned ceramic urn finished in a sophisticated faux bois wood-grain glaze.
The ceramic body displays a highly sophisticated wood-grain effect, with flowing vertical striations in warm amber, chestnut brown, olive, slate blue-grey, and cream. The glaze is intentionally organic and painterly, evoking figured walnut, burled wood, or flame-grain veneer. Subtle tonal shifts and layered brushwork create depth and movement across the surface, demonstrating the high level of ceramic craftsmanship associated with Le Dauphin’s production.
The urn form rests on a stepped square base with clean architectural lines, finished in a gold-toned metal that complements the warmth of the glaze with matching gold elements also at the collar and stem.
Founded in 1966 by Maurice Tournu, Le Dauphin became known for its high-end French lighting, blending classical forms with modern materials and finishes. Faux bois and richly glazed ceramic lamps were particularly popular during the brand’s peak production years and remain closely associated with Hollywood Regency and late 20th-century French decorative interiors.

Spanish Revival Mid-Century Benlloch Manises Ceramic Table Lamp
By Manuel Benlloch
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Manuel Benlloch Manises vase, this table lamp captures the spirit of Spanish Revival design. The tall, hexagonal base is finished in an ivory crackle glaze, a hallmark of Benlloch wares, and painted freehand in a bold palette of cobalt blue, rust-orange, and cream. Its rich patterning draws on Spain’s historic Hispano-Moresque and Mudéjar traditions, translated here into a vibrant mid-century ceramic form.
Each of the six faces is framed by cobalt ribs and filled with repeating ogee arches, lattice lozenges, and scrolling arabesques. The rhythmic interplay of color and geometry creates a bold yet refined surface, perfectly balancing ornament and structure. The underside bears the hand-painted signature “Benlloch España,” affirming its authenticity as a product of this renowned Manises workshop, active across three generations in the 20th century.
To echo the vase’s architectural silhouette, Amitābha Studio has paired the base with a new bespoke hexagonal lampshade. Crafted in warm Dupion silk in tones of orange, peach, and gold, the fabric’s natural texture harmonizes with the arabesques on the ceramic. A Houlès passementerie trim completes the design, while the shade’s golden glow enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence when illuminated.
