About the Item
One of a kind two-light candelabrum, 19th century, Napoleon III, France. Exquisitely crafted, the candelabra features arms adorned with garlands of flowers and leaves, a base and fittings in mercury-gilt bronze (ormolu). The plinth core is made of blue Sèvres porcelain with a hand-painted cartouche on the back depicting a cherub with arrows. This theme is echoed in the central figure supporting the two light arms, crafted in patinated bronze and representing a cherub gathering flowers with his cloak. The light arms have original glass bases and candle holders; it has been electrified since. The piece rests on four small, circular ormolu legs. Signed "V.P." on the base, with a crown at the top. An exquisite and unique piece of great aesthetic refinement and timeless beauty.
