This lamp retains its original bayonet socket in full working condition and uses BB22 bulbs. Available with a US plug, or adaptation can be arranged for your country of use. A unique lamp created by renowned French ceramists René and Madeleine de Valence at their celebrated La Grange aux Potiers workshop in the Drôme region of France, circa 1960s. This exceptional lamp exemplifies the studio's dedication to handcrafted artistry and demonstrates the mastery that made their work highly sought-after by collectors.
The substantial teardrop-shaped vase base showcases the workshop's signature hand-carved sgraffito technique, with the entire surface meticulously incised with intricate geometric and organic motifs. Horizontal bands of decoration include graceful spiral medallions, scrolling wave patterns, stylized palmettes, and foliate designs, all rendered with extraordinary depth and precision. The rich olive-green to golden-brown glaze displays beautiful natural variations and a lustrous patina that enhances the sculptural quality of the carved surface.
The underside is clearly marked with the “GP” monogram and “PIÈCE UNIQUE” inscription, confirming this as a singular studio work.

Spanish Revival Mid-Century Benlloch Manises Ceramic Table Lamp
By Manuel Benlloch
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Manuel Benlloch Manises vase, this table lamp captures the spirit of Spanish Revival design. The tall, hexagonal base is finished in an ivory crackle glaze, a hallmark of Benlloch wares, and painted freehand in a bold palette of cobalt blue, rust-orange, and cream. Its rich patterning draws on Spain’s historic Hispano-Moresque and Mudéjar traditions, translated here into a vibrant mid-century ceramic form.
Each of the six faces is framed by cobalt ribs and filled with repeating ogee arches, lattice lozenges, and scrolling arabesques. The rhythmic interplay of color and geometry creates a bold yet refined surface, perfectly balancing ornament and structure. The underside bears the hand-painted signature “Benlloch España,” affirming its authenticity as a product of this renowned Manises workshop, active across three generations in the 20th century.
To echo the vase’s architectural silhouette, Amitābha Studio has paired the base with a new bespoke hexagonal lampshade. Crafted in warm Dupion silk in tones of orange, peach, and gold, the fabric’s natural texture harmonizes with the arabesques on the ceramic. A Houlès passementerie trim completes the design, while the shade’s golden glow enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence when illuminated.
