About the Item
This French table lamp from the 1950s exemplifies the post-war dialogue between sculpture and functional design. Thrown in pyrite-speckled stoneware, the lamp is defined by a balanced, almost architectural silhouette: a generous spherical body supporting a restrained, cylindrical neck.
The subtly variegated glaze, punctuated with natural pyrite inclusions, gives the surface depth and tactility, evoking the material research characteristic of French ceramic studios of the period.
