About the Item

A striking Murano glass table lamp from Vistosi’s celebrated Neverrino series, originally designed in 1970 by famous Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti (1927–2012). Aulenti is best known for her bold postmodern furniture and lighting designs, as well as her major architectural commissions, including the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. The lamp features a hemispherical shade worked in blue and green murrine glass — a centuries-old Murano technique in which patterned glass canes are sliced into small cross-sections, then fused and blown to create a vibrant mosaic effect. A hot-applied cobalt rim frames the shade, which rests on a cobalt-blue glass stem and polished black glass base. The Neverrino line is documented in Vistosi: Arte e magia del vetro (Arcari/Maggiolo) and was produced in a variety of formats — table, wall, ceiling, and floor lamps — well into the 1980s. This example, with its glass stem and base, represents a later execution of the iconic design. A collectible piece of Murano glass lighting and a rare opportunity to acquire a documented Murano design icon, blending Gae Aulenti’s postmodern vision with the timeless artistry of Murano murrine glass.

XXL Mid-Century Modern Gray and Orange Carstens Tönnieshof Ceramic Table Lamp
By Amitābha Studio, Carstens Tönnieshof
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Oversize Mid-Century Modern Fat Lava table lamp by Carstens Tönnieshof, West Germany, with new teal-gray and orange jacquard drum lampshade by Amitābha Studio. This oversized 38-inch table lamp (approx. 3 ft; 96 cm) is a commanding, sculptural presence—an authentic lava glaze table lamp remade as functional art. The vase base captures the high drama of late-’60s mid-century modernist West German pottery: a smoky blue-gray gradient dissolves into a glossy, molten band of vivid orange that flows over a cratered, black “lava” texture. The mix of matte, gloss, and bubbled surfaces shimmers like cooled magma. We’ve echoed that energy above with a custom extra-tall shade in textured jacquard by Linwood (UK), woven in Italy: a teal-gray ground embroidered with a coral-inspired chenille pattern in orange, finished with Houlès Paris trim and a matching orange fabric-covered cord. The result is an oversized West German fat lava lamp...

Gae Aulenti Table Lamp ‘Poveglia’ in Murano Glass for Vistosi, Italy 1969
By Gae Aulenti, Vistosi
Located in Hellouw, NL
Gae Aulenti was a very versatile and talented architect who undoubtedly occupied an illustrious position in the history of design. An alumna of Politecnico di Milano, she has completed a series of prestigious projects during her long career spanning more than fifty years. For example, Aulenti was responsible for redesigning the Musée d'Orsay and creating a space for the Musée National d'Art Moderne in the Center Pompidou in Paris. In addition to these projects of an architectural nature, Aulenti has managed to leave a mark in the world of interior design with a multitude of furniture, lamps and objects. Many of these objects starred as backdrops in films and advertisements. Take, for example, the Locus Solus garden set in the 1969 classic La Piscine with Alain Delon, Romy Schneider and a young Jane Birkin. This will be an indelible memory for a design-loving audience. Design Aulenti made this table lamp called Poveglia for Vetreria Vistosi. An Italian manufacturer specializing in decorative lighting made of blown glass. The lamp consists of two separate parts. The round and transparent base, which is marked on the inside with a blue made-in-Italy label, has a notch. A yellow hood is attached to the base by a cold connection and shows a beautiful murrine drawing. This murrine technique is one of the most complicated and time-consuming techniques. The artist first coats a center rod with a variety of colorful glass liquids. This rod exhibits rainbow cross...
