Meticulously handcrafted by Amitābha Studio from an antique Altena
Krooyenga Makkum (Netherlands, mid-20th century) earthenware vase— hand-painted in polychrome Delftware style—paired with a pleated silk lampshade in light sage green.
This refined hand‑painted Delft lamp is decorated with bold iron red panels framing hand-painted floral sprays in ochre yellow, cobalt blue, and sage green, all set against a crisp white tin-glazed ground, characteristic of Dutch polychrome Delftware. The Altena
Krooyenga Makkum mark—a shield enclosing the interlaced A & K monogram above Makkum, with model number 306 and painter’s initial “S.”—cements its attribution. Gerrit Altena and Wybren R. Krooyenga, former decorators at Royal Tichelaar, founded this workshop around 1965 using identical production methods yet with a more informal, expressive painting style
Condition is excellent—brilliant glaze, crisp detailing, and no visible craquelure or chips. The pleated silk lampshade, its light sage green tone, provides a serene, complementary contrast to the dynamic polychrome decoration beneath.
