Italian Baroque — Pair of Bronze Pricket Candlesticks
Late 17th Century
An elegant pair of Italian Baroque bronze pricket candlesticks, dating to the late 17th century, each raised on a tripod base terminating in well-defined claw feet. The stems feature a turned baluster form, characteristic of Baroque metalwork, conveying both weight and refined vertical rhythm. Each candlestick is fitted with a broad drip pan (or cup) supporting the central pricket spike, designed to secure a taper candle.
This pair exhibits the sculptural vigor, balanced proportions, and warm patination typical of Italian bronze ecclesiastical and domestic lighting from the period.
