About the Item
An Italian Murano glass table lamp, dating to the 1950s. The fluted base is handblown in thick green glass, worked in a swirling ribbed pattern and finished in the scavo technique, giving it a softly frosted, timeworn appearance. A polished metal collar sits at the neck. Topped with the original pleated silk shade, which casts a soft, golden glow when lit.
Monumental in scale—warm and sculptural on a console, nightstand, or side table.
Murano, the storied island in the Venetian lagoon, has been at the heart of glassmaking for over 700 years. Its artisans shaped molten glass through breath and flame, passing techniques from master to apprentice—each piece a quiet echo of that enduring craft.
Condition: Great vintage condition, with one minor chip to the glass base along the stem. The original pleated fabric shade shows minor wear consistent with age, with faint discoloration and a few small marks near the lower edge. This lamp has been professionally rewired by our team of restorationists with a new plug. Accepts one E26 light bulb.
