About the Item
A rare workshop lamp stamped “Lampe Gras – Ravel, Clamart,” produced by the Ravel company, continuing the lighting system originally designed by Bernard-Albin Gras from 1921.
A true milestone of French industrial design, Lampe Gras lamps are celebrated for their functional engineering, robustness, and radical aesthetic. They were widely adopted by leading modernist architects, including Le Corbusier.
This model features black lacquered metal arms, retaining the original paint, paired with a green enameled metal shade, also original. The iconic Gras pivot joint allows smooth and precise adjustment of the light.
The lamp displays beautiful traces of workshop use and an authentic patina, highly sought after by collectors. Note: there is a slight deformation of the large arm, visible in the photographs, consistent with its age and history, without affecting stability or functionality.
Fully rewired and ready to use, this is a characterful piece ideal for a contemporary interior, an architect’s studio, or a collection dedicated to mid-20th century French industrial design.
