About the Item

This Cantonese porcelain table lamp is formed in a cylindrical shape and dates to the Napoleon III period. The porcelain body is richly decorated with hand-painted panels, each carefully composed and framed by dense ornamental borders. The first side depicts an animated imperial court interior, with elegantly dressed figures gathered around a ceremonial table within an architectural palace setting. The third side presents a refined palace garden scene, showing court figures in conversation amid stylized landscape elements. The second and fourth sides display identical decorative panels, featuring a delicate bird-and-flower composition, with a colorful bird perched among flowering branches and accompanied by butterflies, symbolizing harmony and elegance. The painted scenes are executed in soft pastel tones typical of Cantonese export porcelain of the period. The lamp is fitted with a finely chased gilt bronze mount of high quality, including a stepped base, decorative collar, and burner elements. The lamp is presented with later wiring and a pleated shade. This lamp is sold without lampshade.
