Sculptural hand-carved wooden table lamp with an abundant fruit trophy motif. Italian or French, 1950s. Beautiful rustic patina. One E27 socket. Shade not included.
A striking hand-carved wooden table lamp created in Italy or France during the 1950s. The sculptural base features an abundant fruit trophy, a motif deeply rooted in classical European decoration yet reinterpreted here with a bold midcentury sensibility. Grapes, pears, pomegranates and stylised foliage are carved in generous volumes that give the lamp a strong presence and warm, organic character.
Pieces like this were produced in Southern Europe for export to the American market during the midcentury period, often for sophisticated interiors in California, Florida and the East Coast. The rustic Mediterranean patina, with touches of whitewash and warm tonal variations, is typical of the decorative ateliers active in the 1950s and 60s. The square plinth and urn-like silhouette add an architectural quality that makes the lamp work effortlessly in both traditional and contemporary rooms.
This is a sculptural object as much as it is a functional lamp, perfect for entry halls, living rooms, boutique hotels or anywhere a statement piece is desired.
