Laurel Lamp Co. H-890 Acid Etched Brass With Leather Base Cuff Table Lamp

About the Item

What it is — This stunning Laurel Lamp Co. Lamp features an distressed, brutalist style cylindrical brass tube base with a leather cuff surrounding the bottom. Though the actual technique is unknown, the lamp was likely acid bathed to produce the random patterning that surrounds the lamp. This lamp, the Laurel H-890 first appeared in the 1968 Laurel catalog. The piece was offered in Satin chrome or Birmingham Bronze finish. The original shade measured 15” x 16” x 19” in eggshell imported linen. Though no definitive attribution is available, the primary Laurel designer in 1968 was Harold Weiss. CONDITION — The lamp base, socket, hardware and wiring are in wonderful condition. There is a small dent to the top of the brass where, I assume, the heavy brass finial was dropped. Not very noticeable considering how much is going on with the lamp color. The leather cuff has a few scuffs to it and has been re-glued in the back to complete the seal. The original felt / foot base covering is missing so the bottom edge of the brass tube is just barely visible. I've added a new felt base to avoid scratches to your table. What's included — Lamp only. The EXACT shade you see in the photos is NOT included. I will include a new shade built to the same / similar dimensions that you see in the photos.
