About the Item
Here is a wonderful glass sculpture mounted on a chrome lamp base by Laurel. The sculpture is cast in glass and was designed by Luciano Gaspari and manufactured by Italian glass maker Salviati in the mid-1960s. Gaspari was the creative director for Gaspari from 1955-1968. Laurel bought several of these sculptures and designed the lamp frame to showcase the sculpture.
The lamp and sculpture are both in good original condition. The chrome lamp has some pitting on the base and there's also some discoloration where the sculpture sits--see photos. That said, the lamp presents very well. (Please note that the sculpture is free-standing and is not attached to the lamp frame.) The glass sculpture has a few tiny chips--one on the rectangular base and one on the side of the sculpture itself. Neither of these slight imperfections can be detected except on close inspection and are only mentioned for complete transparency.
Total height of the metal lamp frame (to the top of the finial without shade) is 35.5", width is 13.75" and depth is 5". The glass sculpture measures 18.25" high, 11.5" wide, 4.25" deep. The lamp shade is not included.
