About the Item

Rare and impressive table lamp designed by Ennio Chiggio and made by Lumenform in Italy in 1970. It's quite unique because it looks like the chrome shade is floating in the air, but it's actually a clever design using balance and tension. The glass part sits on a solid steel ring that's chrome-plated. It's like having a sculpture that gives off light and has a magical presence. Also the glow of the light on its surrounding is beautiful. There's a tiny spot where some of the chrome is missing on the inside, but it's not very noticeable. This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it. Customization of height is available for an additional fee. Feel free to inquire for options. Ennio Chiggio was an Italian artist born in Naples in 1938. He studied both technical and artistic subjects in Venice, often attending the Faculty of Architecture. Chiggio co-founded a group called Gruppo N, along with Biasi, Costa, Landi, and Massironi. In this group, they worked on creating moving images, exploring things like optical structures, see-through materials, and colored light sources. Later, in 1965, Chiggio started a group in Padua with Teresa Rampazzi and Serenella Marega called "Nuove Proposte Sonore." They focused on producing sound objects with electronic and synthetic music. He continued to be involved in European avant-garde music labs until 1977 and actively participated in artist groups like "Gruppo TATA" until 1988. This group worked on installations and playful language research.
