About the Item

A sculptural mid-century ceramic table lamp from Manises, Valencia, finished in a rich chocolate-brown glaze and newly paired with a pleated silk lampshade. In full working order and ready for use. New socket, new wiring and U.S. plug on request. This ceramic table lamp was produced in Manises, Valencia during the 1960s, a region long celebrated for its ceramic tradition and expressive glazes. The lamp features a generously proportioned baluster form with softly fluted sides, centered by a raised foliate cartouche that adds subtle relief and classical character to the silhouette. The surface is finished in a deep chocolate-brown glaze with natural tonal variation and a high gloss that accentuates the sculptural modeling of the form. Vertical striations in the body catch the light beautifully, giving the lamp visual depth and a strong sense of material presence. The base is grounded by a gilt-toned foot, providing a warm contrast to the dark glaze and lending the piece a refined, decorative finish. The lamp has been thoroughly cleaned, professionally rewired, and fitted with a new pleated silk lampshade in an off-white tone, chosen to complement the richness of the ceramic while keeping the overall look timeless and versatile. Manises ceramics from this period are appreciated for their craftsmanship, weight, and decorative presence. This lamp works equally well as a statement piece on a console or side table, or as part of a layered, traditional interior with European influences.

Spanish Revival Mid-Century Benlloch Manises Ceramic Table Lamp
By Manuel Benlloch
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Manuel Benlloch Manises vase, this table lamp captures the spirit of Spanish Revival design. The tall, hexagonal base is finished in an ivory crackle glaze, a hallmark of Benlloch wares, and painted freehand in a bold palette of cobalt blue, rust-orange, and cream. Its rich patterning draws on Spain’s historic Hispano-Moresque and Mudéjar traditions, translated here into a vibrant mid-century ceramic form. Each of the six faces is framed by cobalt ribs and filled with repeating ogee arches, lattice lozenges, and scrolling arabesques. The rhythmic interplay of color and geometry creates a bold yet refined surface, perfectly balancing ornament and structure. The underside bears the hand-painted signature “Benlloch España,” affirming its authenticity as a product of this renowned Manises workshop, active across three generations in the 20th century. To echo the vase’s architectural silhouette, Amitābha Studio has paired the base with a new bespoke hexagonal lampshade. Crafted in warm Dupion silk in tones of orange, peach, and gold, the fabric’s natural texture harmonizes with the arabesques on the ceramic. A Houlès passementerie trim completes the design, while the shade’s golden glow enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence when illuminated. This Spanish Revival lamp...
