Carrillo Studio is the artistic practice of Irene Sánchez Carrillo, a Spanish ceramic artist whose work explores the quiet tension between raw nature and mindful craft. Her connection to the Mediterranean landscape—especially the coastal village of Cadaqués, where wind, stone, and sea converge—continues to shape the emotional and material depth of her pieces. Each work is hand-built using natural materials and shaped through a slow, intuitive process. Influenced by ancestral practices, the studio embraces irregularity, texture, and transformation as essential parts of the creative gesture. The resulting forms feel timeless—rooted in the earth yet alive with subtle movement. Trained in fine arts and traditional techniques such as gilding and polychromy at Llotja Escola d’Art i Disseny (Barcelona), Irene also studied ceramics at the Escuela de Arte San Telmo (Málaga) and design at Central Saint Martins (London). This multidisciplinary background informs her poetic yet grounded approach to materiality. At the core of Carrillo Studio’s practice is a spiritual approach to making: one that honors presence, listening, and the quiet intelligence of matter.
