About the Item
Extraordinary large sculptural Italian table lamps made in solid travertine marble and brass, completed by a round brown cotton shade. These incredibly charming and unique lamps were designed in Italy in 1973 by Illum Architects, an important Roman architectural studio known for its collaborations with Gabriella Crespi during the 1970s. Both are signed on a brass plaque reading "Illum Architects 73".
In fabulous condition, with no chips or cracks. Each lamp features an impressive massive travertine sphere, perfectly polished to highlight the natural warm tones and unique veining of the marble. The elegant brass stem adds a sophisticated contrast to the organic stone. Each lamp weighs approximately 25 kg, giving them a monumental and architectural presence they look more like decorative sculptures than simple table lamps.
The lamps are completed by Italian custom-made lampshades in rich brown cotton, lined internally with mirrored premium gold foil which, when illuminated, creates a soft and luxurious glow, emphasizing the warm hues of the travertine and brass. Wired with twisted cord, tested, and compatible with US and EU/UK standards. They use a single E26/27 bulb.
A one-of-a-kind and glamorous lamp, perfect for collectors and lovers of high-end Italian design.
