Beautiful lamp by Robert Chiazzo with a brown glaze highlighted by subtle shades of green. Its original form, with a narrowed neck, gives it an elegant presence. Signed on the underside, it is characteristic of Chiazzo’s work and glazes

Robert Chiazzo (1924–2020) was a French painter and ceramist born in Hyères, known for his distinctive mid-20th-century ceramic work. After a varied early career, he discovered his artistic calling after World War II and, with support from fellow artists, became a self-taught ceramist in the late 1950s. He opened the gallery La Cueva in 1967 with his wife and exhibited his ceramics — often featuring rich glazes and organic forms — at events such as the Biennale Internationale de Céramique d’Art de Vallauris. Later in life he returned to painting, and his work continues to be appreciated by collectors worldwide.
