Conny Walther (1931-2019) was a renowned Danish ceramist who has had a significant influence on the Danish ceramics scene. She began her career at the famous Saxbo ceramics factory in 1948, where she worked for a short time, before continuing her education at the Copenhagen School of Arts and Crafts from 1949 to 1951. She subsequently worked at Kähler in Næstved before opening her own workshop in 1953. Walther became known for her unique style, which often featured highly fired, embossed and hand-manipulated forms, as well as glazed pieces with expressionistic brushstrokes. Her characteristic ball vases and stoneware utensils were often decorated with dramatic colors, creating an interesting contrast with the raw surfaces. In her later years, she focused more on painting, but she maintained her interest in ceramic forms until her death. Walther and her husband, the artist Bent Stubbe Teglbjærg, lived and worked together in a dynamic artistic environment in Birkerød, which also contributed to her creative development. Her works often resurface at auctions and art exhibitions, testifying to the enduring interest in her unique contribution to ceramics.
