About the Item
Incredible complete pair of Mid-Century Modern avacado green lamps by Plasto. These have got to be some of the most authentic Mid-Century lamps around. It is quite rare to find lamps with their original shades. These green, conical shades are perfect mates for the beehive shaped lamps. The chalkware lamps are indeed shaped like beehives with gold bands accenting the olive green.
The lamps rest on a brass base and have a tasteful walnut wood neck. The lamps shades have some wear, but they are so special we can forgive the flaws. The trick to fix flawed lamp shades… rotate them so that the good side faces forward and bad side faces the wall. Plasto label is etched on the back side near bottom.
A tastefully turned walnut neck meets a brass base, creating a harmonious transition of materials — the organic richness of wood, the metallic glow of brass, and the vivid hue of mid-century color. These materials combine to convey not just function, but sensibility: design attuned to texture, warmth, and visual drama.
What makes this pair even more special is the presence of their original shades — a distinction quite rare in vintage lighting. While they bear the beautiful patina of time (some light blemishes, slight crinkles, marks) these imperfections serve not to detract but to authenticate.
Condition: Very good condition. Both lamps work. Some minor oxidization on bases. Lamp shades have some blemishes including marks and crinkles.
