About the Item
A large Mid-Century Modern brass table lamp with a wooden slate shade made by Valaisin Mäkelä oy. The lamp seems to be by Finnish lamp designer Kai Ruokonen (Finnmark) as we have a pair that are very similar and have the same parts as in this one yet carry the label of Designed by Kai Finnmark. Regardless if it was designed by him or an anonymous designer, the lamp is quite beautiful and sizable standing over 60cm tall. The brass balls have a lovely reflecting mirror effect that add to the vibrance of the lamp.
The lamp is in it's original condition except for the renewed shade. It is also stamped by the manufacturer at the bottom.

An iconic Scandinavian design lamp designed by Kai Ruokonen "Finnmark" and manufactured by Orno Oy in the 1970s for the Vaakuna Hotel in Helsinki, Finland. The same model was also used later in the Palace Hotel Helsinki. A very simple yet elegant heavy duty lamp in full brass with a beautiful patina. There is something magical about the coldness of brass and the warmth of the light filtering through the shade. The condition is consistent with age, showing some signs of normal use, but the overall impression is very good and the Patina is absolutely gorgeous. Marked by Manufacturer "Orno Oy".
