A Mid-Century Modern table lamp by Richard Essig, crafted in Germany during the 1970s.
This rare design reflects the era’s fascination with material contrast and architectural form, blending mirror-finish chrome with warm, richly toned Rosewood. The resulting aesthetic is both minimal and expressive.
The lamp’s tall, columnar silhouette stands 55 cm high on an 18 × 18 cm square chrome base, its proportions defined by clean lines and a striking mix of cool and warm finishes. The rosewood adds natural texture and depth, echoing the period’s broader shift toward organic materials in modern design.
Retaining its original brown braided cord, inline switch, and Edison screw socket, the lamp is offered in good vintage condition. Wiring is untested, and professional certification (PAT/UL) is recommended prior to installation.
Condition:
Light surface wear and a discreet dent to one side of the wooden plinth base, consistent with age and use. Presents well overall.
