About the Item

Mid-century Spanish Manises table lamp in a rich chocolate-brown glaze, featuring raised ornamental relief decoration and a turned wooden foot with gilt finish. Ideal for Mediterranean, Spanish Revival, Hollywood Regency, or eclectic interiors. In full working order and ready for use. New socket, new wiring and U.S. plug on request. This striking mid-century Spanish table lamp originates from Manises, the historic Valencian ceramics center long celebrated for its lustrous glazes and sculptural surface treatments. The lamp is finished in a deep chocolate-brown glaze with subtle tonal variation, accentuating its elegant, elongated silhouette. A prominent feature is the raised relief decoration applied to the body: a bold, symmetrical scrollwork and foliate cartouche motif, rendered in high relief and partially enhanced with darkened glaze pooling that adds depth and drama. The ornament reads as an abstracted Baroque-inspired flourish, a decorative language frequently used in Manises ceramics of the 1950s–1960s, drawing on Mediterranean and historic Spanish design traditions. The ceramic body is mounted on a turned wooden base gilded with gold-leaf, lending warmth and contrast to the glossy glaze above. The combination of sculptural ceramic, gilded wood, and rich coloration gives the lamp a strong decorative presence while remaining versatile across interiors—from Mediterranean and Spanish Revival to Hollywood Regency, traditional, or eclectic settings.

Spanish Revival Mid-Century Benlloch Manises Ceramic Table Lamp
By Manuel Benlloch
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Manuel Benlloch Manises vase, this table lamp captures the spirit of Spanish Revival design. The tall, hexagonal base is finished in an ivory crackle glaze, a hallmark of Benlloch wares, and painted freehand in a bold palette of cobalt blue, rust-orange, and cream. Its rich patterning draws on Spain’s historic Hispano-Moresque and Mudéjar traditions, translated here into a vibrant mid-century ceramic form. Each of the six faces is framed by cobalt ribs and filled with repeating ogee arches, lattice lozenges, and scrolling arabesques. The rhythmic interplay of color and geometry creates a bold yet refined surface, perfectly balancing ornament and structure. The underside bears the hand-painted signature “Benlloch España,” affirming its authenticity as a product of this renowned Manises workshop, active across three generations in the 20th century. To echo the vase’s architectural silhouette, Amitābha Studio has paired the base with a new bespoke hexagonal lampshade. Crafted in warm Dupion silk in tones of orange, peach, and gold, the fabric’s natural texture harmonizes with the arabesques on the ceramic. A Houlès passementerie trim completes the design, while the shade’s golden glow enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence when illuminated. This Spanish Revival lamp...
