About the Item

Awesome monumental metal mid-century modern brutalist table lamp by the Laurel Lamp Company. It is in wonderful vintage condition. It has been completely rewired and has a new socket. We have also restored the paint on the square base and harp. The abstract sculptural body retains its original bronze colored patinated finish. Its oversized lampshade is wonderful and usable but does show its age and you may want to replace. Circa 1968. This amazing monumental, in both size and style, lamp could be yours! It is a mid-century modern brutalist design by Laurel Lamp Company. The designers at the Laurel Lamp Company at the time this lamp was created were Harold Weiss and Richard Barr. It is possible one or the other created this awesome design. Comprised of a black almost cube base that has a long central rod holding the wiring which is looped and swirled and wrapped with a ribbon of brutalist bronzed strips of cut metal. It is topped with its original nubby fabric covered drum shade. It is very tall and large but not overpowering. More sculpture than lamp, this outstanding piece will be a focal point in any room you use it. Just make it yours. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There is nothing outstanding, but you might find small scratches and a small dent on the base if you look very closely, and the globe seems to have a small smudge-like flaw inside the bottom side of the glass but very low visibility.
