This attractive table lamp was designed by Niels Rasmussen Thykier and first produced in the 1930s. Manufactured in Denmark, this lamp is a testament to mid-century design that was so prevalent in Denmark at the time.
The lamp, initially known as the T3 lamp, became known as the 'Kongelys' lamp when Fog
Morup first took over production in 1937. 'Kongleys' translates to 'Royal Light', referring to its regal appearance, adding a sophisticated statement to any room as well as pleasant lighting. This individual lamp was constructed sometime later, either in the 1940s or 1950s.
This lamp is made from brass and copper and sports a conical fiberglass shade. The simple yet evocative profile of this lamp allows it to easily fit into one's current design choices while adding a great flair of creativity. The lamp can also exist as a great conversation piece, as well as an important piece of design history.
