The 'Medusa' table lamp, designed by Olaf von Bohr and manufactured by Ecolight for Valenti in Italy in 1968, is a striking piece of sculptural lighting. Its name, "Medusa," is aptly chosen, evoking the mythical figure from Greek mythology whose hair was famously transformed into a writhing mass of serpents. This lamp mirrors that concept with its dynamic, twisting design, making it a fitting tribute to the mythological namesake. Because of that shap, the lamp creates an astonishing light effect on its surrounding when lit. The 'Medusa' features a round black metal base and a central chrome spine that supports both the 2 sockets and the outer shade with an ingenious mechanism. The shade is composed of several bent strips of white-finished aluminum, artfully rotated to create the lamp's distinctive sculptural form.
