Oriental abat-jour made with the plique à jour technique.
Fine table lamp of Chinese origin from the early 1900'
Made with a difficult technique similar to the cloisonné technique.
Unlike cloisonné, a metal background is not used; a frame is constructed with tiny brass decorations that are then filled in layers with translucent enamels.
The plique à jour technique is very rare as it requires many months to implement and a high failure rate.
The elegance of this technique makes this rare and very special lamp a collector's item.
The lamp is in excellent conservative condition and has no defects.
