About the Item

Stunning and imposing Pair French Sevres soft paste Porcelain and Ormolu Twin scrolling Handle Electric Table Lamps of traditional Urn form, and of good size proportions, raised on highly ornately cast reeded dome shaped circular stepped ormolu bases with ornate canted corners. The exquisite hand painted central reserves depicting seated musicians within landscape and other views of cherubs reading hymn sheets, all reserves within a lavish gilt surround on a rich Celeste blue ground with jewel detailling. Mid to late Nineteenth Century. Condition: Good condition with no losses to porcelain, some losses to jewelled details, all ormolu mounts have been professionally re-gold plated. Professionally re-wired for electricity. Height: (entire as shown on main image including bulb holder) 14.25" (36cm). Width: (across widest arms) 7" (17.5cm). Diameter: (at base) 4.25” (10.75cm). Originating from France around 1880, these lamps stand 24 inches high to the top of the sockets and 19 inches high to the top of the vases. Each urn measures 8 inches wide and 5 inches deep. These pieces exemplify the finest quality enameling and feature hand-painted Boucher vignettes on the front, signed by the artist J. Lubar.
