About the Item
Pair of brown-beige danish Mid-Century stoneware table lamps of the 1960-70s. Design by Svend Aage Jensen.
Sculptural lamp bases made of chamotte clay with earth-tone glaze, in chocolate brown and light beige colours. These lamps exist in three different sizes, here the medium version. Part of the Brunette series.
Manufactured by Søholm Stentøj (Soholm pottery) on the island of Bornholm, Denmark.
Søholm Stentøj, which means Soholm’s sandstone, was founded in 1835 by Herman Sonne Wolffsen and Edvard Sonne. The name Søholm, comes from the factory where the two founders were employed, a pottery near Copenhagen, in 1828-1839. It was the oldest factory operating in Bornholm, a Danish island off the south coast of Sweden, until it closed in 1996.
In the middle of the 20th century, Søholm produced a wide range of stoneware in various patterns and shapes. Several Designers worked for Søholm Stentøj as Einar Johansen, Maria Philippi, Noomi Backhausen among others.
The lamps are signed with the manufacturer's mark. They come with new lampshades.
New wiring and E26-E27 socket. Work with 110v and 220v.
The EU-plug can be replaced by US-plugs for free.
