About the Item
Decorate bedside tables or side tables with this elegant pair of antique tole lamps. Created in England circa 1890, each lamp features a square canister form resting on a stepped plinth base, hand-painted in deep black with fine gilt banding. The front of each lamp is adorned with an engraved neoclassical medallion depicting Roman emperors in profile, inspired by 18th-century numismatic engravings and reflecting the late Victorian fascination with antiquity.
Both pieces are fitted with custom cream-colored shades trimmed in gold and matching black finials. Rewired to modern standards, this refined pair is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, displaying a rich patinated finish that enhances their timeless appeal. Ideal for use on a console, buffet, or master bedroom nightstands, these lamps bring sophistication and historical character to any interior.
