About the Item
A Large Pair of 19th Century French Ormolu Mounted Hand-Diamond Cut Crystal Vases Turned-to-Lamps. Each lamp features hand-diamond cut crystal bodies with a prismatic lattice pattern that catches and refracts light. The crystal is meticulously hand-diamond cut, creating a rich interplay of facets that enhance its clarity and brilliance. The flared necks transition into ormolu-mounted rims adorned with beaded detailing.
Ormolu mounts embellish the vases, including a finely cast band wrapping around the body with a floral garland motif centered by crossed torches and quivers. The ormolu handles curve upward, terminating in scrolling acanthus leaves that extend from the sides of the vases. These mounts are gilded, providing a striking contrast against the transparent crystal.
The vases rest on ornate ormolu bases, each supported by four feet decorated with classical motifs. The bases feature laurel wreaths and neoclassical elements, reinforcing the refined aesthetic of the period. The conversion to lamps includes a dual-socket fixture with pull chains and frosted glass shades.

Please note that these have minor issues with the crystal including, but not limited to, minor hair-line cracks to various areas of the crystal, which are mainly behind the ormolu mounts.

Behind the middle ormolu mounts the crystal has a very small fissure which was created during the process of placing the ormolu mounts. The fissures are found behind the mounts and are very difficult to see as they are covered by the ormolu.
