About the Item

Bring charm and character to a wine cellar, tasting room, or home bar with this delightful pair of late-19th-century French cabaret-themed lamp bases, carved in France circa 1880. Each hand-sculpted figure represents a jovial male and female cabaret performer seated atop a rounded whisky or wine barrel, their expressive postures and playful facial features capturing the spirited mood of provincial tavern culture. The carvings showcase excellent craftsmanship with textured garments, stylized hair, and finely etched foliate details throughout. Both pieces are fitted with updated wiring to modern standards and are topped with thick wax candleholder sleeves that give the lamps a warm, old-world presence. The walnut wood displays a deep, beautifully aged patina that enhances the sculptural quality and highlights the natural grain.
