About the Item
An exquisite, period pair of antique Cornelius and Company gilt bronze three arm candlesticks, Philadelphia, circa 1840, having been electrified sometime in the early 20th century. The pair standing on tripodal bases with gothic arches over a seated woman at a well with a church in the background.
They are enveloped in extremely detailed decorations of chased leaves, volutes and flowers, and adorned with black silk clip on shades, beeswax candle sleeves and spear cut crystal drops. The top flame finals lift, and are candle snuffers.
These are truly a work of art and a pleasure to behold and to own.
