On offer is a pair of antique Japanese Satsuma vases converted into electric lamps.
The vases are decorated with intricate overglaze enamel and gilt details, a characteristic of Satsuma ware. They date from the late 19th or early 20th century (Meiji or early Taisho period). The Satsuma style is known for detailed hand-painting and raised relief embellishments. The design of these pieces features figures often identified as the "Immortals" or bodhisattva figures, which convey good luck and happiness against a background of deep browns and blacks. Who says you can’t buy happiness?
