This exquisite pair of Chinese porcelain vases/lamps, showcases the refined beauty of the famille rose palette set against a vibrant coral-orange ground. Each baluster-form vase is gracefully proportioned, with high shoulders, elongated necks, and gently flared rims. Later converted into lamps, the vases now rest on elegant custom gilt bronze bases that complement their decorative charm.
The surfaces are masterfully enameled with delicate brushwork and harmonious coloration. Richly adorned with flowering magnolia and peony branches that wrap seamlessly around the body and neck, each vase presents a distinct composition: one features a long-tailed bird poised delicately on a blooming bough, while the other is embellished with an intricate peony scroll design. Subtle tones of aubergine and lilac form the branches, while blossoms bloom in soft shades of white, pink, turquoise, and violet. The bird is rendered in lively greens, reds, and pinks with meticulously stippled feathers and graceful tail plumes, adding a lively sense of movement.
These vases reflect the artistic sophistication of late Qing dynasty porcelain, particularly the coral ground and famille rose decoration popular during the Tongzhi and Guangxu periods.
