About the Item

Pair of Delft Imari ceramic vases by Dutch ceramicist Jaap Heinen, produced at the Heinen Delfts Blauw studio in Putten and dating to circa 1980s. Each vessel is hand-painted in the Pijnacker-style palette of cobalt blue, iron-red, and gilt tones on a cream ground, drawing from Dutch interpretations of Japanese Imari decoration. Amitābha Studio has transformed the pair into one-of-a-kind table lamps with custom-cut brass fittings, braided navy cords, and bespoke Japanese block-print fabric shades in navy and gold finished with Houlès passementerie trim. The lamps form an intentionally irregular pair. About Jaap Heinen Jaap Heinen is a Dutch ceramicist associated with Heinen Delfts Blauw, the family-run studio founded in 1975 that helped revive Delftware production in the Netherlands during the late 20th century. The workshop is known for hand-painted ceramics executed in traditional Delft and Imari-inspired palettes, maintaining tin-glaze techniques while introducing contemporary interpretations of historic Dutch and Japanese motifs. Heinen’s work often blends cobalt blue, iron-red, and gilt accents in patterns that reference the classical Pijnacker style, a Dutch decorative tradition rooted in 18th- and 19th-century interpretations of Japanese porcelain. Pieces from the studio remain collectible for their craftsmanship and for their role in the modern continuation of Delftware making. ⸻ Please note: The lamp is fully wired for use in the U.S. Additionally, the listed height includes the lampshade. We also ensure compatibility for global use by offering a free plug customization service to match the electrical standards of your specific country. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us! ⸻ About Amitābha Studio: Amitābha Studio is a design atelier dedicated to transforming historic ceramics into one-of-a-kind lighting objects. Each lamp is crafted with deep reverence for the original form, using non-invasive methods that preserve the integrity of every antique or vintage vase. We pair these bases with bespoke lampshades—often made from luxurious textiles such as vintage sari silks or fine European fabrics—and finish each piece with carefully selected cords, fittings, and handmade brass elements. Our work is guided by a commitment to sustainability, cultural heritage, and timeless design.
