Pair of mid-20th-century vintage Dutch Delft Royal Tichelaar Makkum ceramic table lamps with new blue linen shades—ideal for classic, coastal, or relaxed traditional interiors; newly wired with U.S. plugs and ready to use.
Beautifully handcrafted by Amitābha Studio, this pair of table lamps is made from mid-20th-century hand-painted Dutch pottery by Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum, one of the Netherlands’ oldest and most esteemed ceramic workshops. Each base is richly decorated in the Delft polychrome tradition, with stylized florals and symmetrical scrolling motifs in deep cobalt blue, brick red, and green.
The elegant forms feature gently flared, faceted silhouettes rising to a crisp collar, giving the lamps a refined vertical presence that works beautifully on bedside tables, consoles, or living-room sideboards. The undersides bear the hand-painted Makkum shield mark, model number 495, and a painter’s initial—consistent with production dating from the mid-20th century (circa 1950s–1970s).
To complement the detailed ceramic decoration, Amitābha Studio has paired the bases with custom blue linen lampshades. The natural linen texture softens the overall look and introduces a lighter, more relaxed feel, making this version especially well suited to coastal, classic, or European country-inspired interiors. New brass fittings and matching fabric-wrapped cords complete the ensemble.
These lamps bring together color, craftsmanship, and history in a way that feels both decorative and highly livable.
The lamps were created without altering the original ceramic vases in any way.

About Royal Tichelaar Makkum
Tichelaar Makkum is one of the oldest continuously operating ceramic workshops in Europe, with origins tracing back to 1572 in the Frisian town of Makkum, the Netherlands. Known for its mastery of tin-glazed earthenware, the workshop became a key producer within the broader Delftware tradition, preserving hand-painted techniques and polychrome decoration through centuries of production. Pieces from Makkum are recognized for their refined craftsmanship, distinctive color palette, and adherence to historic Dutch ceramic methods, making the workshop an important name for collectors of Northern European pottery.

Amitābha Studio
Amitābha Studio is a husband-and-wife creative design studio founded in Amsterdam in 2021 by Davide Piai and Kimberly Poppe. The name "Amitābha" means "limitless light" in Sanskrit.
Davide Piai is an Italian craftsman with talents encompassing art, music, and culinary arts. Kimberly Poppe is an American artist, fine art photographer, curator, and interior designer, educated at Parsons School of Design and Sotheby's Institute of Art.
Together, they create functional art objects—notably luxury lighting and lamps—by meticulously sourcing and transforming antique and vintage ceramics into handcrafted designer pieces. Each of their lamps is one-of-a-kind.
In 2025, Amitābha Studio relocated to Sitges, on the Mediterranean coast south of Barcelona, Spain. While Dutch pottery remains at the heart of their collection, the move has allowed them to incorporate the rich ceramic heritage of Spain into their work.
The studio has collaborated with prestigious institutions, including Aronson Antiquairs for 17th-century Delftware and Royal Delft.
