About the Item

Striking pair of white ceramic table lamps with trompe-l'oeil wicker texture, evoking woven rattan and coastal basketry; Spanish Manises production, c. 1970s. Perfect for Coastal, Mediterranean or Hamptons interiors. In full working order. Original wiring; re-wiring and U.S. plugs available on request. These striking table lamps are crafted in white ceramic and modeled in a convincing trompe-l’œil wicker weave, creating the visual warmth of woven rattan with the weight and permanence of glazed ceramic. The deeply textured surface catches the light beautifully, emphasizing the rhythmic basket-weave pattern and giving the lamps a sculptural, architectural presence. Produced in Manises, Spain, a historic center of ceramic production, these lamps date to the 1970s, when Mediterranean and coastal aesthetics strongly influenced European interior design. Their organic form and woven illusion reflect the era’s fascination with natural materials, artisanal techniques, and relaxed seaside living—design ideas that feel especially relevant today. The crisp white glaze enhances their versatility, making them ideal for coastal, bohemian, organic modern, or Mediterranean-inspired interiors. They work equally well as statement bedside lamps, on a console, or flanking a sofa, where their generous scale and tactile surface can be fully appreciated. Both lamps are fully functional and electrically tested. Rewiring can be carried out upon request, and plugs will be adapted to suit the buyer’s country of use at no additional cost.

Spanish Revival Mid-Century Benlloch Manises Ceramic Table Lamp
By Manuel Benlloch
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a vintage Manuel Benlloch Manises vase, this table lamp captures the spirit of Spanish Revival design. The tall, hexagonal base is finished in an ivory crackle glaze, a hallmark of Benlloch wares, and painted freehand in a bold palette of cobalt blue, rust-orange, and cream. Its rich patterning draws on Spain’s historic Hispano-Moresque and Mudéjar traditions, translated here into a vibrant mid-century ceramic form. Each of the six faces is framed by cobalt ribs and filled with repeating ogee arches, lattice lozenges, and scrolling arabesques. The rhythmic interplay of color and geometry creates a bold yet refined surface, perfectly balancing ornament and structure. The underside bears the hand-painted signature “Benlloch España,” affirming its authenticity as a product of this renowned Manises workshop, active across three generations in the 20th century. To echo the vase’s architectural silhouette, Amitābha Studio has paired the base with a new bespoke hexagonal lampshade. Crafted in warm Dupion silk in tones of orange, peach, and gold, the fabric’s natural texture harmonizes with the arabesques on the ceramic. A Houlès passementerie trim completes the design, while the shade’s golden glow enhances the lamp’s sculptural presence when illuminated. This Spanish Revival lamp...
