About the Item
A stunning and very large scale pair of French early 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu candelabras mounted into lamps after a model by Pierre Gouthière. Each lamp is raised by a triangular shaped base with rounded corners and concave sides. The base is decorated with a fine entrelacs et les rosaces ban. The striking pierced support above is adorned with richly chased floral garlands and centered by charming and detailed female masks at each side. The three central supports display handsome hoof feet and lightly scrolled movements. Each support is decorated with floral and foliate ormolu patterns and centered by a lovely floral final. Above are the three rinceau shaped scrolled arms with impressive foliate detail and fine floral candle cups. At the center is an additional candle cup above striking floral and foliate swaging garlands and designs.
