About the Item

Each oil lamp in this pair is wrought from gilt bronze and Bayeux porcelain and is designed in the chinoiserie style so prominent in French art during the latter 19th century. Each lamp stands on a gilt bronze base, raised by four foliate feet, and features a further gilt bronze element around the upper neck. The body of each lamp is elegantly shaped like an elongated bulb, the Bayeux porcelain ornately painted with Chinese inspired designs, including figures and flowers.
