About the Item

A magnificent pair of French Hollywood Regency gilt and patinated bronze pineapple lamps. Each lamp is superbly cast in the form of a stylized pineapple, a classical emblem of hospitality and abundance, its sculptural form embodying the grandeur of Hollywood Regency ornamental design. The ovoid bodies are meticulously worked in bronze, their surfaces adorned with a finely incised diamond-quilted pattern echoing the natural texture of the pineapple’s skin. Gracefully surmounting each form is a crown of upright gilt bronze leaves, arranged in a tiered composition and culminating in a sculptural finial of curled and convex foliate elements, each petal and curve catching the light with a warm, burnished gleam. The bodies are mounted to tall, tapering columns adorned with bands of overlapping leafwork and supported on deeply molded socles above stepped plinth bases. Each base is raised on four bun feet and mounted with circular acanthus medallions in gilt bronze, offering a subtle interplay of textures and tones between the matte patination and luminous gilding. The vertical composition unfolds in harmonious tiers—from the molded foot to the ascending leaf collars and culminant crown—exemplifying the symmetry and stately rhythm characteristic of Regency design.
