Pair of French Louis XVI Style White Marble Gilt Bronze Swan-Handle Urn Lamps A grand pair of French Louis XVI-style urns, dating to the late 19th century and later mounted as lamps in the early 20th century, crafted of white marble with richly chased gilt-bronze mounts. Each ovoid urn is adorned with elaborate swags of flowers and ribbon-tied garlands, with gilt bronze bases of gadrooned and acanthus decoration raised on square plinths. The handles are formed as elegant swans, a neoclassical emblem of purity and refinement frequently employed in French decorative arts from the reign of Louis XVI through the Empire revival. The original pierced finials survive, finely cast in openwork bronze with scrolling foliate and floral ornament. The lamps were custom-electrified in the early 20th century, fitted with non-removable harps that integrate seamlessly into the design and ensure stability. Their monumental presence—33 inches high to the finials (22 inches to the sockets), 10" diameter with 5 x 5 inch bases—makes them striking focal points for both traditional and eclectic interiors.
