About the Item

A fine pair of mid- to late-19th-century French Empire–style gilt-bronze candelabra, later converted into lamps. Each piece features a fluted column rising to finely chased capitals and three candle arms, set on a tripartite base with lion-paw feet over a conforming platform. The original ormolu gilding is intact and well preserved, showing minor, age-appropriate discoloration. The candelabra were drilled and fitted for electrical wiring in the 20th century, and each was mounted on a custom giltwood base. They have not been rewired since the 1980s and are offered without harps or shades. Please note: one arm is slightly loose but can be easily corrected during rewiring by tightening an internal screw. The pair has been priced accordingly.
