About the Item
Pair of hand-hammered iron and rock crystal table lamps by Sylvain Subervie.
Born in Suresnes in 1950, self taught and polyvalent. He has long wandered on the edge of design and art, coming from the world of high-fashion before becoming a designer and sculptor.
Bored with the ephemeral world of fashion, Sylvain Subervie set out to give life to timeless works: he surrenders to the nature of his chosen materials such as iron or rock crystal, a mineral that attracts and fascinates him.
The wrought iron was a key choice in his artistic development. It became the expression of his own personality. His talent emerged as he learned to negotiate a balance of power exerted between the wrought iron and himself. He designed his first collection of furniture in 1995 by bringing together the elements of iron and rock crystal.
