About the Item

A pair of ceramic cylinder-shaped table lamps crafted in stoneware and finished with a warm light-brown glaze. Each lamp features a gilded band at the neck, the glossy gold providing an elegant contrast to the textured ceramic surface and highlighting the artisanal character of the piece. These lamps reflect the rich tradition of Bitossi Ceramiche, founded by Guido Bitossi near Florence in Montelupo in 1921. Originally known as Ceramic Manufactory Guido Bitossi Sons, the company later became simply Bitossi Ceramiche—today recognized for its highly collectible and innovative mid-century ceramics. Following World War II, Aldo Londi (1911–2003) became the company’s artistic director, a position he held for more than fifty years. Londi’s creative leadership ushered in a period of significant experimentation with textures, reliefs, forms, and glazes, resulting in many of the iconic ceramic designs for which Bitossi is now celebrated. A beautiful example of the studio’s tradition of craftsmanship, these lamps combine warm materiality with refined decorative detail, making them ideal for Italian modern, organic modern, or mid-century interiors. We have multiple pairs are available in perfect condition with production date on label. New wiring in gold braided flex to British Standard and European small bayonet cap bulbs, ready for immediate use. The drum shades are not included. Dimensions are of the bases only, without the shades D 13 cm, H 40 cm Dimensions shades in photo D 35, H 23 cm.
