A pair of sculptural table lamps. Lamp foots in turned pine wood, dark stained. Designed by Uno Kristiansson, for Luxus, Sweden, 1970s. Both are punchmarked Luxus - made in Sweden. For E26/27 bulbs. Swedish designers Uno & Östen Kristiansson, renowned for their lighting and mirror creations, left an indelible mark on the design world from the 1950s to the 1970s. Their distinctive Scandinavian modern style remains highly sought-after in vintage circles. Uno, born in 1925, and Östen, two years later in 1927, likely honed their craft in southern Sweden under the tutelage of their father, who operated Vittsjö Furniture, a business established in 1919. In 1950, Uno founded Luxus in Vittsjö, producing a diverse array of home products, including lamps, furniture, and mirrors, all designed by the brothers. Their collections gained acclaim nationally and internationally, with Luxus introducing a vibrant range of lamps in the 1960s, attributed to Finnish artist Marjatta Metsovaara. Östen presumably took over the family business in 1966, renaming it Östen Kristiansson AB. Though details on its operations are sparse, it likely continued the tradition of craftsmanship.
